It is with heavy hearts that the family of Josip (Joža, Joe) Sajko announces his passing on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Following a year long valiant battle, Josip passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and holding his beloved wife's hand.
Josip leaves behind his cherished wife Ana, his three children Joanne (Damir Krišto), Marianne, and Michael (Jackie). Dida Joža's five grandsons were his pride and joy. Endearing qualities of our departed Josip will live on in Jakov, Josip, Martin, Luka, and Sebastian. He had a unique bond with each.
Family and friends were everything to Josip. He was the heart and soul of our family. He welcomed everyone into his home and heart. The bond he shared with his siblings and their families extends through generations. He leaves behind brothers Nikola (Antonija), Julijan (Vera) and Antun (Zvjezdana), and sisters-in-law Štefica and Danica. His family finds immense comfort in knowing he now joins in eternal life, his parents Nikola and Ana, his older sister Janica, and his younger brothers Ivan, Lovro and Branko. Also left to mourn are his sister-in-law Zlatica Šimić (Blago) and brother-in-law Ivan Bradica (Mirjana), and many nephews, nieces and godchildren.
Josip was a pillar of strength and kindness. He leaves us with a legacy of love and cherished memories. His recent battle was lengthy and difficult, but he never hesitated to face any of the obstacles he encountered along the way, and his determination and strength gave him the will to teach his children and grandchildren, that it's your faith in the Lord that will help you get through the toughest of times.
Josip enjoyed 21 1/2 years as a retiree after working 31 1/2 years for Chrysler Canada. He was a devoted parishioner of the Holy Trinity Croatian Church in Oakville, an active and proud member of Društvo Sveti Lovro Vivodina, and Croatian Club Karlovac. He took pride in volunteering his time and hands to make all things better.
Josip's earthly departure leaves an emptiness that words cannot describe. Let us remember the lessons he taught us all: to love unconditionally; to cherish family bonds; and to find joy in life's simple moments. His legacy and memory lives on in the family, friends and neighbours he worked with, enjoyed life with, and prayed with.
In lieu of flowers and if desired, donations in Josip's memory may be made to: Holy Trinity Croatian Roman Catholic Church (Oakville, ON), or Crkva Svetog Lovre, Vivodina (Croatia).
