Passed away Monday, October 14, 2013, Joe was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on June 3rd, 1922. He was one of thirteen children of Jacqueline and Archie Cameron. Joe is predeceased by Anne, his wife of 59 years. Joe and Anne brought their young family to Ontario in 1958 and settled in Oakville. Joe worked at City Service Refinery (now PetroCanada) when it was first built and remained there until his retirement. Joe was a real handy man. He could fix, repair or rebuild just about anything. He had a very strong work ethic. Joe loved family gatherings and the sacred ritual of Saturday night hockey games with chips and French onion dip. He was very involved with his church and believed in the power of prayer. Joe had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. He will be forever remembered for the countless hours he devoted volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Helping Hands, and the Oaklands Regional Centre. Joe leaves behind his four children, Jo Ann, Frances (Robert Marit), Alan, and Kathryn (John Karcz) as well as grandchildren, Rob Witten (Lisa), Joe Witten and Marie Witten (Paul), Meaghan Marit (Gregory), Andrew Marit (Elisabeth), Kathleen Marit (Tom), Fraser Marit, Joe Cameron, John Cameron and Ana Karcz. Joe also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Abigail, Owen, Isaac, Ben, Meaghan, Isabelle, Christian, Madison, Max, Sam and Lily. Joe's family would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful staff of West Oak Village for their compassionate care of our Dad. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr Street) on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9. The funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville.
