John ("Jack") Francis Taugher
October 1937 – September 2023
John ("Jack") Taugher, born in Kingston, Ontario, was the youngest son of the late Francis and Grace Taugher (née Williams). He leaves behind Carole (née Rogers), his wife of fifty-four years, his son Mark, his daughter Sheila, and her daughter, Audrey. Jack was predeceased by his brother Edwin ("Ed") and James ("Jim"). Jack died in Oakville, his home for 51 years.
Jack's love of classical music was fostered by his time as a boy soprano chorister at St. George's Cathedral in Kingston. A voracious reader with a prodigious memory, he was imbued with a love of reading by his mother, Grace, a librarian. Jack was a natural athlete who was awarded Athlete of the Year at Albert College where he led the basketball team in scoring to win COSSA for their division. Upon moving to Toronto to work at the Toronto Stock Exchange, Jack continued his love of basketball by playing weekly at the Central YMCA.
Jack's quick wit, kindness and extraordinary patience led to his home being a positive and stimulating environment. As Jack's friend once wrote, "Jake (Jack) is one of the most unselfish, modest and thoughtful people I have ever known". Jack's family concurs.
