WYNDHAM, John Steen
Jack died quietly on February 9, 2007 at Wyndham Manor, Oakville in his 92nd year after a full and successful life. Loving husband of 64 years to Marjorie Anne (nee Hopper). Father of John David and his wife Lois of Burlington, of Robert Campbell (deceased) and his wife Mary of Ottawa and of Andrea Marie Ross and her husband Geoff of Ottawa. A special grandfather and great-grandfather to Morna Watts and Chris Potter (Connor, Griffin and Owen), Greg and Melissa Watts (Spencer, Cameron and Rowan), Jennifer Ross, Martin Wyndham, Lee Wyndham, Colin Wyndham and Trevor Ross, he will be missed. The youngest of five children, Jack was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Max and Paul and his sister Nan. He was born and grew up in Oakville where his father was the first principal of Oakville Trafalgar High School. He attended Northern Collegiate, and served in the Ferry Command during the war from 1942 to 1945. He was president of Stone & Cox Limited and publisher of Canadian Insurance magazine for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a long time member of the Oakville Curling Club, and the Oakville and Windermere Golf Clubs. The family gives special thanks to the caring staff of Wyndham Manor which was named after his father. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm with a Service of Remembrance Thursday at 1pm at Kopriva Taylor Chapel.
