It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Rimes on Thursday December 22, 2011 at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, in his 74th year. He succumbed to a recurring cancer after 21 years in remission. Beloved husband of 46 years to Greta (Geitenbeek). Dear father of Wendy, Janice Mortimer (Craig), Maureen (Tom) and Philip (Kelly). Cherished grandfather of his 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. John will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Steward "Slim" and Isobel and his sister Dot Hall. Survived by his sister Susan Grigsby (Red). Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 27, 2011 from 7-9 pm at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville. A service to celebrate John's life will be held on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 3:00 pm in the Kopriva Taylor Chapel. Interment at St. Jude's Cemetery will take place at a later date.
