Obituary

John McMillan MacDonald passed away peacefully on November 14, 2019, one week after celebrating his 91st birthday. John was the beloved husband of Audrey Alice to whom he was married for over 66 years. He was a loving father to Warren, Cathy (Dave), Sandra (Gord) and Murray (Linda), as well as being a proud and devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. John was an Oakville resident since 1958 living in the same house on Willis Drive. He was an active member of the community and, among other things, could be seen at Hopedale Mall selling tickets for the Waterfront Festival. For over 15 years he was a regular volunteer at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was a long-standing member of the Church of the Epiphany serving in a variety of capacities. For his many years of service he was awarded the Order of Niagara by the Anglican Diocese of Niagara. In his youth John was active in many sports and throughout his life was an avid fan, particularly of the Toronto Maple Leafs. For many years, well into his retirement, he was a league-topping bowler. In their retirement years John and Audrey travelled the world and had many wonderful and exciting adventures together. A special thank-you goes out to the staff of the Chartwell Waterford for their kind care of John in the last few years of his life. A service will be held on Saturday November 23, 2019 at the Church of the Epiphany, 141 Bronte Road, Oakville at 11 am.  Reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Church of the Epiphany would be appreciated.
