It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Kustec, also affectionately known as "Papa" or "Ajtek " on March 7, 2013.
Beloved husband of Maria with whom he shared over 55 wonderful years. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren: son John (Beverly) and their children Allison, Jackson and Davis; daughter Diane (Rick); daughter Frances (Mike) and daughter Yvonne.
He will be sorely missed by his sisters Ivanka (Ignac), Darinka (Martin) and Ana (Steve); his brother Steve (Regina), and brother Joe, all his nieces and nephews and the many friends he made over the years. John is predeceased by his brother Martin, brother Ignac, brother Slavi, and sister Matilda.
Family was most important to Papa, he loved to see everyone sitting around the dinner table for one of Mama Kustec's delicious meals and walking to the park with his grandchildren. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, generosity and gentle manner. He was always willing to lend a hand on a project, forever repairing and building things around the house and for others and most of all would share a glass of his famous homemade wine with everyone who came to visit.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Princess Margaret Hospital - Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre in Toronto for their care through his treatments and many appointments. Extra special thanks goes to the amazing staff in the Palliative Care ward of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their incredible care, support and dedication over the last two months helped.
Visitations will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West in Oakville on Monday March 11, 2013 between 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
The Funeral Service will be held at St Andrew Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street in Oakville on Tuesday March 12, 2013 at 2pm. Burial to take place at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital online and directed to Palliative Care Services.
