Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we regretfully inform that our most beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friends to so many has passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. John's courageous battle is over, following a year-long illness filled with hope and positive thoughts which continued to the end. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife April (Lanthier) and his four devoted and loving daughters, Sheryl Lynn (Fraser Whale), Kimberly Dawn (Douglas Brown), Susanne April (John Corley) and Jennifer Ann (Robert Harrison). His legacy lives on in his 11 grandchildren, aged 19-3, Colin Brown, Jessica Brown, Amanda Brown, Pearson Whale, Nathan Whale, Adam Whale, Ethan Corley, Bennett Corley, Wesley Harrison, Gillon Harrison, Emmett Harrison. Equally devastated by his early loss are his two older siblings, Heather Macdonald (Stan Eise) and Bob Macdonald (Bridget Quinn), also stunned and devastated are his parents-in-law Ron and Jackie Lanthier, of Aurora and now Oakville, who regard John as one of their sons. He was a much loved brother-in-law to Bonnie and Terry Jackson, Ron and Marg Lanthier, Andrea and Ron Torrens, John and Kim Lanthier. He was more than an uncle to many of his nieces and nephews, many of who came (some from afar) to tell him of his mentorship and his belief in them. He will be sadly missed by so many friends who loved him dearly. He was a lover, a friend, a teacher, a scholar, a carpenter, a painter, a builder, a forest manager, a builder of companies and home, a CEO and dreamer. He had a formal education having earned his MBA and he was self taught or learned from his older brother many of the ways of the world. He was a mentor to many and loved by so many. He was my hero and the love of my life. A Memorial Service celebrating John's life will take place 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Foundation (www.oakvillehospitalfoundation.com)
