John Andrew Howlett, aged 74, passed away on July 8, 2024, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 11, 1950, John lived a life dedicated to family, justice and his passions. John was a distinguished lawyer known for his expertise in employment and contract law.
Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to the field, representing numerous clients and bringing two cases before the Supreme Court of Canada. His commitment to justice and his tireless advocacy on behalf of his clients left a lasting impact on the legal community and beyond.
Outside of his professional life, John loved sports, particularly tennis and hockey. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed watching matches and games, often sharing these moments with family and friends. John also had a passion for travel and photography. John and Ann were curious, intrepid explorers and these adventures provided the background for amazing shots. Some of his pictures can be found adorning the walls in the homes of family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife, Ann Imrie Howlett; his son, Graham Howlett; his daughter-in-law, Hollie Howlett, and his cherished grandson, Dylan Howlett. He also leaves behind his brothers, Keith Howlett and Bill Howlett. John's memory will be treasured by all who knew him, and his legacy of integrity will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate John's life and legacy on Saturday, July 13th at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Doctors without Borders/Medecins sans Frontieres or the Canadian Cancer Society in John's honor.
John Andrew Howlett will be deeply missed, but his spirit and contributions will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will take place at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home 64 Lakeshore Rd. W. Oakville July 13, 2024 from 1 - 3 pm.
