John will be forever remembered for the love and devotion he had for his family and his faith in God. His greatest joy was having his family gather together to enjoy a meal, followed by a strategy board game. He served his country with high standards, values and ethics. He was a camp counselor in his younger days and a teacher to many during his years in the armed forces. He built his first house with his own hands after attending construction classes at night. He had many hobbies including model building, railroading, photography, camping, gardening, computers, space, and strategy games. He taught his sons electricity, plumbing and carpentry. He was a voracious reader with an inquiring mind and a devout Catholic. He was an active member of a weekly bible study group in his later years. He was a gentleman.
For the last 8 years, John struggled with dementia. The family would like to thank the many caregivers at Wesburn Manor for their exceptional care and support.
He will be held dear in the hearts of his family, relatives and friends.
We were blessed to have had him in our lives, he will be missed but never forgotten.
