John Burke: June 1932-September 2023

John Burke passed peacefully on Thursday September 14, 2023 with his loving family by his side, at Extendicare Mississauga, his home for the past four years.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife Ellen and was the proud father to his son Bill (Norma), and daughter Elaine (Henry), adoring grandfather to Allison (James), Andrew (Chanel), Nicole and Michael (Jessica) as well as Great Papa to Lilly, Spencer and Logan. He will also be greatly missed by his siblings in Canada, Alec (Joy) and Margaret, as well as his siblings in Scotland, Betty, Tom (Betty), and Jimmy (Isobel). Also sadly missed by his many nephews and nieces in both countries.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, John came to Canada with his family in 1967 and settled in Toronto. He quickly adapted to Canadian life enjoying golf, lawn bowling and camping. However, his real passions were playing the dulcimer, spending quality time with his family, and forever supporting his Glasgow Celtic Football Club.

Visitation and Service will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road, West, Oakville, Ontario.

Visitation:  Tuesday, September 19 from 6-8pm.

Service:  Wednesday, September 20 at 2pm with Luncheon to follow.

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Dementia Society.
