Johannes "John" Matheus Debets,

Passed away peacefully in Oakville on October 27, 2020.  John was born in the Netherlands July 29, 1932.  In 1954, he immigrated to Canada, settling in Oakville.  In 1961 he was joined by his fiancée Angelique Speet.  Soon they married, bought their home on Rebecca St. and began their family.  Within a few years John established his business, John Debets Television Service.  He maintained this business until his retirement some 40 years later.  His impressive technical insight and quick wit endeared him to all.

John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Angelique Debets and five children:  Theodora "Dory" Kyle (Ron), Timothy Debets (Linda), Sandra Yerian (Jeffery), Ernest Debets (Marie) and Andrew Debets (Tracy).

Affectionately known as "Grampa fix it", John will be missed by his grandchildren:  Stephanie Coleman (Peter), Katrina Richardson (Rion), Aaron Hill (Dalena), Cassandra Schade, Christopher Schade (Katie), Matthew Hill, Gretchen Yerian, Alexander Debets, Hanna Yerian,

Nicholas Debets, Kyle Marchand, Megan Marchand and Marc Marchand.  John is survived by six great-grandchildren:  Rayn Richardson, Kerrington Morris, Kamden Morris, Madelyn Coleman, Isla Debets-Reid and Everett Hill.

Many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and dear friends in Canada and the Netherlands grieve the passing of John.

With grateful hearts we trust he is reunited in heaven with his parents, beloved brother (Aad), sister (Miep) and son-in-law Johannes Schade.

Friends and family may visit Friday, November 6, 2020 from 3 pm -7 pm at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville.
