Peacefully in the arms of her best friend, husband Jim of 50 years on February 20, 2009, Joanne fought and without complaint lost a courageous battle to LMS cancer. Survived by son Dan and wife Christina of Guelph and her two darling granddaughters, Nicola and Olivia; daughter Kristina (Tina) of Oakville and sister Gloria (Tony) Covillo of Ottawa. Predeceased by brother Paul Kowalsky of New Zealand and parents Jerry and Joanna Kowalsky of Montreal. Joanne wants us all to remember that cancer is so limited that it cannot cripple love, shatter hope, corrode faith, destroy confidence, silence courage, invade the soul or lessen the power of ressurection. Joanne's specific request was for a small celebration of her life on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600). Visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a brief service at 11:00 a.m. in the Kopriva Chapel. Interment at St. Jude's Cemetery, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
