Joan Marguerite
Rouleau
September 22, 1931 – January 5, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Marguerite Rouleau (nee Walker) announce her passing on Monday January 5, 2026 in her 95th year.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Melvin Rouleau, son Paul Rouleau and her son-in-law Carmen Mastroieni.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Mary Lou Fenbow (Jim), Jo-Anne Mastroieni (Carmen – deceased), Jim Rouleau (Debbie), Peter Rouleau (Alice). She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren, and her twelve great-grandchildren.
Joan was born in Toronto in September 1931 to Eva & Cloy Walker as the youngest of their 5 children. She became a graduate of St Michael's College of Nursing, Toronto in 1952. Shortly after graduation she started her family with Mel. They became the proud parents of five children.
Joan, was a valued member of her community in Oakville. Joining card groups, singing at the Colbourne centre, filing her days visiting and helping her neighbours and the children in her neighbourhood. She also served in many roles at St. James Church, including, a period of time as President of the CWL. She had a beautiful voice and although she couldn't read music she sang with her choir for over 65 years, in most part as the soprano soloist. In March 2025 she received a lifetime achievement award from the Bishop of the Hamilton Diocese.
To all who were fortunate enough to have been acquainted with her, she was a woman of remarkable warmth and generosity, with an infectious enthusiasm for life. She possessed the rare ability to make everyone in her presence feel seen and valued. Her legacy is not merely in the milestones she achieved professionally, but in the countless lives she touched with kindness and humor. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who knew and loved her.
We now have to say goodbye to Joan, but in our hearts, she will always be with us. Love you Mom
