Joan Paris passed away peacefully in Oakville, Ontario, on May 28, 2026, at the amazing age of 98. Born in Australia on November 27, 1927, she grew up in England before immigrating to Toronto in 1954. It was there that she met her late husband, James Paris. They married in 1956 and settled in Oakville, where they raised their three daughters. Joan was an avid gardener who lovingly tended her large English garden. She was a long-standing member of the Oakville Horticultural Society where she earned several awards for her outstanding contributions. She also sat on the Town of Oakville’s Sister City committee for Neyagawa. She lived in the same house for almost 70 years and took great joy in spending time with her neighbours chatting over a cup of tea or strolling the garden. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Carol Budd (Terry Budd), Diane Wolstenholme (Allan Wolstenholme), and Sharon Paris; her grandchildren, Shelley Budd (Nuno DiSilva), Jeffrey Budd (Christina Budd) and Emily Wolstenholme; and her great-granddaughters, Charlotte, Brooke, Marlo, and Chloe. Joan was predeceased by her husband, ‘Jimmy’, and by her beloved sister, Grace Oswald. Thank you to the caring staff at OTMH palliative care. Joan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
