Jeanne Edith Lightbody (nee Moran)
April 11, 1924 - February 29, 2024
In loving memory of our dear mother who passed away peacefully a month shy of her 100th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander Lightbody and brother John Moran. Survived by her son Mark Lightbody and wife Colleen, daughter Jill and husband Konrad Sechley, grandchildren Trevor, Ava, Faith and Talia and great grandchildren Arthur and Linus.
Jeanne emigrated from England in 1946 to join her Canadian husband whom she met during the war and married in London, England in 1945. They first lived in Vancouver, then Montreal, and eventually settled in Oakville.
Jeanne was well read and an accomplished seamstress, knitter, painter, bridge player and gardener, and was also quite sporty, enjoying golf, bowling, tennis, skiing and walks in the countryside with her beloved dog. A long time Montreal Canadiens fan, she rarely missed a game on TV. For many years, she volunteered with the Women's Auxiliary at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, sharing her love of reading by operating the library cart. She was a terrific cook who made creative birthday cakes and the best roast potatoes.
We are grateful to the staff at Wesburn Manor in Etobicoke for the superb care she was given in her last few years.
She was a wonderful, loving mother who will be joyfully remembered for her love of nature and dogs, her wry wit, and an appreciation for a good cuppa or a G&T.
