Obituary

Jeanette Anne Smith, born May 19, 1943, in Jamaica, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Oakville, Ontario, surrounded by the love of her family.

Jeanette was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and woman of deep faith. She carried herself with grace, strength, kindness, and warmth, and touched the lives of so many through her caring spirit and generous heart.

She leaves behind her loving children, Shelley, Rebecca, and Damian; her cherished grandchildren, Krysta, Dante, Aria, and Lincoln; her beloved sister, Norma; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Jeanette was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Tamya, with whom she shared a deeply special bond. While her family takes comfort in imagining their reunion in Heaven, Tamya remained forever close to Jeanette’s heart throughout her life.

Jeanette found great joy in her church community and faithfully dedicated her time to serving others. A devoted Catholic, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a proud participant in the Rosary Apostolate, where she helped teach elementary school children about the Rosary and the Catholic faith. She also volunteered generously within her parish and found great purpose in sharing her faith with others. Her faith guided her throughout her life and brought comfort and strength to those around her.

She treasured family gatherings, especially during Christmas, which she celebrated with love, joy, and tradition. She loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays, shopping - she loved her heels, and never missed an opportunity to have her hair and nails done.

Above all else, Jeanette loved her family deeply. Her home and presence were places of comfort, laughter, prayer, and unconditional love. The memories she created with those she loved will be treasured forever.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and resting in the presence of the Lord.

The funeral will be held on June 11th at 1pm at Mary Mother of God Parish.

Honouring Jeanette's final wishes, the family invites those who wish to do so to make a donation in her memory to the SickKids Foundation in support of pediatric cancer care and research. This cause held a special place in her heart, and such gifts would be a meaningful tribute to her life and legacy.
