Jarvis Daniel Stoddart passed away peacefully on September 24, 2020.  He was predeceased by Carol, his wife of 56 years, and his two older brothers, William and Matthew.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son Matt and his wife Sue and grandchildren Joel and Kaitlin; his daughter Julie and her husband John and their family - Tristan, Tiffany and Trevor and their children; along with many family members and friends.

The son of the late Jarvis and Grace Stoddart of Woodville, Ontario, Jarvis graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto in 1952.  Although music and his love of playing the piano continued to be a major joy in his life, he was destined for a career in the film industry, first with Crawley Films and then with the National Film Board of Canada (1957-1986).  His career with the NFB started a love of travel and an opportunity to make life-long friends.  He and Carol raised their children in Vancouver, Montreal, Japan and London, England.  After retiring in 1986, they settled in Toronto and enjoyed the arts, cultural and movie scene of the city.  They enjoyed keeping in touch with their wide group of friends and visiting family in London, England, Virginia, Niagara Falls, Winnipeg and spending summers at the family cottage on Balsam Lake.  A perfect day at the cottage would include sitting at the end of the dock, reading, soaking in the sunshine with a cold beer in hand.

Jarvis and Carol enjoyed travelling with particular favorites being Central and South America and Southeast Asia.  They were known to jump on local buses, travel independently and experience the true essence of the countries they visited.

Jarvis will be remembered for his intelligence and kindness.

Due to these difficult times, a funeral will not take place.  Interment will be held at a later date at Smith's Cemetery in Woodville, Ontario
