OBITUARY

In loving memory of Janet Ann Maguire (nee Langshaw)

December 29, 1933 – September 3, 2024

Janet Maguire, mother of four, grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of five, passed away peacefully at Extendicare Burloak Long Term Care Centre on Tuesday September 3rd, 2024.

A brave newcomer to Canada in 1956, Janet was born and raised in Luton, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. She is fondly remembered by her beloved sister Susan Gormley, and by nieces and nephews and other family members in England. She was predeceased by her parents Claude and Margaret Langshaw and by her elder brother John, sister-in-law Sheila, and brother-in-law John Gormley.

While in Toronto, Janet met her devoted husband of 55 years, Joseph Maguire, who predeceased her in 2017. Together they raised four children in Mississauga: Martin (Kerry). John (Martha), Anne-Marie and Terry (Pina). They will never forget the limitless love she gave to them and to her grandchildren (Tyrone, Dylan, Rhys, Erin, Neil, Kathleen, Claire, Joseph, and Chiara) and her great-grandchildren (Jane, Rhodes, Harrison, Jackson, and Eden).

A friend to many, Janet will also be fondly remembered by her countless customers at one of Mississauga's first Tim Horton's franchises in Southdown Plaza.

To all who knew her well and to those who met her only briefly, Janet always shared kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness. Janet's warmth, good humour, strength and quiet dignity are an example to the generations that have followed her.

Our family wishes to thank the entire team at Burloak LTC who took such good care of Mum in her final weeks.

Janet's life will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass at St. Christopher's Parish on Clarkson Road in Mississauga on Tuesday September 10th, 2024, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Spring Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society is appreciated.
