After a brief illness, passed away with dignity, on his own terms, age 88, at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on Nov 1st, 2023 "Jim" was born in Montreal to the late Edward and Jean (nee Robertson) Parker, growing up on Rosalyn Avenue in Westmount. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Barbara (nee Hodges), his eldest son Neal (Margaret Clark) and brother Stuart (Beryl Macario). A loving, warm, witty, and devoted father and grandfather, he leaves behind his son, John (Diane Sekula), his daughter, Heather (Peter Gastle), and five grandchildren; Emilie, Aaron (Sydne Pilon), Eric, Sarah and Alexandra.

Along with playing on their football team, Jim earned his bachelors in 1956 from Bishop's University, in Economics and History. He began his sales career with E. S. & A. Robinson, a British paper, printing and packaging company, then later with DRG Packaging Inc. in Leaside, ON, and finally with Curwood Packaging Ltd. in Georgetown, ON. In 1979, along with the exodus of many English Quebecers, he packed up this wife and 3 kids (plus his 4th child Farrah, the daschund) and moved to Oakville ON. A widower at age 60, Jim took up cooking with a passion. An amateur, yet talented oil painter, he was taught at a young age by Arthur Lismer. Other pastimes included tennis (prior to three knee surgeries), reading (John Heinzl in The G&M!) Sudoku, and cottage life with his family, especially while at Lake Manitou in the Laurentians. The valuable life lessons Jim taught his family will carry on with us, long after his passing.

A celebration of life will take place on November 11th, 2023 in Oakville at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, at 11:15 am. Reception to follow. In memory of James, donations can be made to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital Foundation at, or a charity of your choosing.
