IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Edward
Jefferies
October 27, 1946 – May 6, 2017
We lift up to God with gratitude for the life of Jim, beloved son of Dorothy and the late Arthur William Jefferies. He passed away at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital of complications from a fall. Jim was an accomplished athlete and enjoyed playing guitar. He was a graduate of Oakville Trafalgar High School and was attending Ryerson when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He worked at S.T.R.I.D.E. for 25 years before his retirement 5 years ago. Jim was a gentle soul who was a dear companion to his mother after his Dad passed away and they shared a very special bond. His life had great consequences in Canada. He was the inspiration for his dad, Bill along with Dorothy's support and care to create the Friends of Schizophrenics which became the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario and The Canadian Schizophrenia Society and the development of The World Schizophrenia Fellowship. Jim is survived by Dorothy, his brothers John(Sheryn) and David(Gail) and will be missed by his nephew David and his nieces Kristin, Kathryn, Amy, Kim, Erica and Emily Jefferies. Jim loved to spend time in Orillia and Lake of Bays. Thank you to the staff of Wyndham Manor for their care and concern. Visitation will be held at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William St. Oakville from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, followed by interment in St. Jude's garden of remembrance. If desired, donations to the Schizophrenia Society will be greatly appreciated by the family.
