James (Jim) Hamilton was an engineer and had a long career which culminated in his job as foreman of the cold mill at Dofasco, but at heart he was first and foremost a photographer. If you looked through his Facebook page you would see the work of a talented artist and it’s obvious what his passions were: wildlife of all types as well as scenery both close to home and from his travels.
In later years his travels revolved around another passion: Scotch whiskey! Jim was fond of trips to Scotland which involved tasting tours and spectacular scenery. He spoke of his fellow travellers with fondness and considered them good friends.
Another interest of Jim’s was his beloved cottage on Black Lake, inherited from his parents. He always posted pictures of the end of the season with comments that revealed his bittersweet feelings about the event.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, Don and Helen, and his younger brother Doug. He is survived by sister-in-law Michele and two nieces, Kaye (Adam) and Gwen (Andrew).
The family would like to thank Alan and Jane, longtime neighbours and friends who made Jim part of their family, for all their help.
Jim, we hope you’re enjoying a glass of single malt with Doug on your deck overlooking Black Lake. Here’s to a life well-lived.
