IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Macaulay
Dalgleish
December 12, 1932 – December 22, 2023
Beloved Son of Robert and Violet Dalgleish, and eldest brother of Gladys Jeffers and Ian Dalgleish (deceased) passed away peacefully with his son by his side. James (Jim) was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Elizabeth and leaves behind a son John, daughter Susan (Chris) and three cherished grandchildren: Alexander, Oscar, and Hannah.
Born in Greenock, Scotland and raised near Glasgow, Jim relocated to Montreal, Canada in 1957 to continue his banking career with Royal Bank of Canada. He and Elizabeth met and were married at the local Presbyterian Church. As the Canadian banking landscape evolved, they moved to Toronto to pursue his career, ultimately settling in Oakville in 1971.
Football (soccer) was a lifetime passion. Jim played soccer in his youth, coached both of his children, and volunteered for many years with the growing Oakville Soccer Club. During his tenure as President, he presided over the prestigious 'International 85 Tournament' which hosted teams from Britain, America, and Canada. A Christian since his youth, Jim was active in the Presbyterian Church and served the Oakville community as Elder and Stephen Minister. Always active, Jim enjoyed golfing in his retirement years.
A funeral will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Monday, January 8, 2024. There will be a visitation commencing at 10:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
