IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Anthony
Clarke
February 12, 1936 – September 21, 2018
James passed away peacefully with his wife and daughters by his side at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on September 21, 2018 at the age of 82. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife June, known to all as "Junie". They met in Plymouth, England, at a dance while Jim was serving in the Navy and June was in nursing school. June was a dancer, Jim was not, but she loved him anyway and they were married a year and a half later.
Jim and June celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February of 2018. He will be forever missed by his daughters, Jayne, and her husband Patrick, of Dundas, and Jacqueline, and her husband Mel of Macau. Jim was the proud Granddad to his granddaughters, Gillian (Jen), Allison (Devin), Emily and Danielle. He was also great Granddad to Declan, Kyleigh and Tanner.
Jim will be greatly missed by his sisters, Violet and Katherine, and brother Larry of Dublin, Ireland. Jim has many nieces and nephews who know him fondly as Uncle Jimmy.
Jim and June immigrated to Canada in 1967, where Jim joined the former Township of Toronto as a Police Officer and retired as Staff Sargeant of the Peel Regional Police Force in 1994. Jim had many interests in the years that followed, but loved taking Junie on holidays, with the Rui Palaces across the Caribbean being one of their favourite destinations. The Irish Club of Mississauga was a Friday afternoon tradition for many years, where friends shared stories, listened to the "blarney" of others, and generally had a great time. The Irish Club was a large part of both Jim and June's social life for over 20 years.
Our family wishes to express its gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, with special mention to nurses Tania and Shirley for their exceptional care and compassion.
