James (Jim) Albert Arthurs (February 28, 1931–October 10, 2021)

Passed away in the early morning of Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer in his ninetieth year. He was a devoted husband and partner of Helen for fifty-nine years, until her passing in March of 2013. A loving father to David, April (Barry Sproule), and Graham (Wendy Lake, predeceased in 2021); grandfather to Blake (Coralee), Ashley, Amanda (predeceased in 1983), Natasha (Matthew), and Nicole (John); and great-grandfather to Molly, Beckett, Eli, and Sadie. Until his retirement in 1989 after thirty-one years of service, he was an employee of the Roads and Works Department for the Town of Oakville and Trafalgar Township, working as a foreman and as the first heavy equipment and street sweeper operator for the town, keeping the community he lived in for over sixty years beautiful and moving. He was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and devoted his time to helping those around him as a volunteer fire fighter. The family would like to thank the 6 South, fourth floor doctors, nurses, and staff of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community  Funeral Home from 11am – 12pm on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 with a service celebrating Jim's life following at noon. Interment will be at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated by the family.
