It is with regret that we announce the death of Joseph Harvey Sullivan on Monday, April 1, 2013. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 48 years, Barbara (née Rivard), and is survived by daughter Catherine (Philip), granddaughter Claire Barbara, and son Kevin (Jancis), and grandchildren Kate Moffatt, James Harvey and Emma Grace. He will be missed by his close companion and partner Marlene Hogenson of Naples, FL. He was raised in the shadow of St. Patrick's Basilica in Montreal, and attended McGill University where he obtained his degree and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1955. He spent most of his career in the leasing business (NABEL, Hamilton Group, Citibank) and later, in his 60's, became an entrepreneur (GBS Barbecues). He lent his skills for many years to the Catholic Archdiocese of Montreal, was a long-standing member of the St. Patrick's Society of Montreal, and was a 50 year+ member (especially of the running clubs) of the YMCA on Drummond Street in Montreal, and, later (1977) in Toronto and Oakville. Harvey enjoyed his time spent over the years in Rye, New Hampshire and Naples, Florida. Visitation will be held from 7-9 pm Wednesday April 3, 2013 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville (1 block east of Kerr St., 905-844-2600). Funeral mass to be celebrated at Saint Dominic Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca Street (E. of Bronte Rd.) at 11 o'clock on Thursday April 4, 2013. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, should one desire, donations to the Oakville Humane Society would be appreciated.
