Obituary

It is with immeasurable sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Son, and Uncle: Ivan Stojev. He passed away on December 5th, 2022, peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife Vera Stojev, son Milan (Victoria) Stojev, mother Ljiljana Stojev, brother Bojan (Jasmina) Stojev, brother-in-law Dragan (Olgica) Tjupa and nephews: Ljiljana, Branka, Ivan, Milica and Matej.

Ivan was born February 26th, 1960, in Bosilegrad, Yugoslavia, a small town close to the Bulgarian border, where he grew up with his parents, Ljiljana and Ljuben, who were both high school teachers in the local town. Ivan's deep interest in science and mathematics led to his acceptance into the University of Nis Electronic Engineering program in 1979.

Ivan and Vera's love story began at university. They became close friends during their first year of studies, and began dating in 1984. Ivan and Vera were married in 1991, followed by the birth of their son Milan in 1992. On April 1, 1999, Ivan, Vera and Milan began a new chapter in their life, moving to Canada and settling in Toronto, being warmly welcomed by close friends and relatives. This started a new and exciting adventure in a country filled with opportunity, however also came with the challenges faced by all immigrants, requiring strength, responsibility and hard work by the whole family. In 2005, the family moved to Oakville, settling down in their family home.

Ivan will be remembered for his selfless nature, providing constant support to everyone in his life. He had extraordinary patience and a great ability to teach others, attributable to his caring and loving nature. Ivan's philosophy was that tomorrow will always be better than today. His optimism, patience and love for others is a legacy that his family and friends will carry on in his memory. Ivan was most happy when he could put a smile on someone's face.

The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the team at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Revera Northridge Long Term Care Home in Oakville for his care.

Ivan's Funeral Mass will begin at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home 64 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville ON L6H 1E1 Saturday, December 10th at 11:00 am followed by interment at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville.
