In Loving Memory Of Ingrid Bonning (nee Cordua)
Ingrid, a beloved mother, fiercely independent spirit, and a true and caring friend to so many, passed away on July 17, 2023 in her 81st year at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH).
Ingrid's heart was a sanctuary of love and friendship. She was a social butterfly, drawing people near with her genuine interest and caring nature. Her capacity to forge deep bonds with others created a circle of affection that extended far beyond family ties. Her friendships were built on a foundation of kindness, understanding, and forgiveness.
Even in the face of challenges, Ingrid always looked on the bright side, encouraging others to do the same. Her positive outlook on life became a beacon of hope and inspiration, spreading warmth and comfort to those around her. And when life presented her with the role of caregiver for her parents in their final years, she approached it with strength and love, never wavering in her dedication to their well-being.
Throughout her professional life, Ingrid dedicated herself to the administrative field where she thrived for 36.3 (!) years at Ford Canada in Oakville before retiring at age 55. She would often share fascinating stories of a "day in the life" over dinner and her commitment and work ethic undoubtedly left a positive impact on colleagues (friends!) and the organization.
Ingrid embarked on many adventures across the globe when she was younger and several more later in life too, immersing herself in different cultures and experiences. She had a passion for collecting dolls from each country she visited, cherishing the memories of her worldly escapades. Her love for travel extended to a fascination with jewelry, and she adorned herself with unique pieces from her journeys and everyday treasure hunting later on, turning each piece into a treasured memento.
Ingrid also found joy in simple pleasures including long chats over the phone or in-person or tasty meals with friends and family at the local Swiss Chalet. She reveled in her independence, often taking leisurely walks through her neighbourhood with her many walking "buddies", and most especially, by the shores of Lake Ontario following her usual morning breakfast rituals. Whether running errands for herself or supporting others, she was seemingly always on the move in her various cars over the years with every single one affectionately named Betsy!
As a mother, her love was unconditional and unwavering. She nurtured her only son Andrew with a boundless affection that left a lasting impression on his life that will never be forgotten.
Ingrid's life was a tapestry of love, friendship, and compassion, woven together by her extraordinary heart. Her departure leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will forever live on in the hearts of all those she touched.
May she rest in peace, forever remembered and celebrated for the light she brought into the lives of others.
I love you mama and I miss you so much. XOXO
Ingrid's continued independence was greatly extended following several successful partial corneal transplants, so in lieu of flowers, donations to The Eye Bank of Canada (Ontario Division) via Kensington Health would be greatly appreciated.
