Obituary
Herta in her 91st year passed away at the Vistamere Retirement Residence in Oakville early Saturday morning, May 16, 2015.
Herta daughter of Peter and Leopoldine Surtmann was born in Judenburg, Austria, travelling to Britain after World War II where she met William Thomas, her husband to be. Married in 1949 the couple then migrated to Canada in 1955. Building a life together, for 62 years they remained a married and loving couple. She is survived by her two sons Rudy and Eric.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful nurses, caregivers and other staff at Vistamere and CCAC (Community Care and Access Centre) for their care and compassion.
At Herta's request cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held.
For those who wish, memorial contributions to the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) would be appreciated.
