Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce that Henry John Krupa unexpectedly passed away on Friday, November 14. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Halina.

Henry is survived by his long term companion, Dinah Robert and her daughters Melanie (husband Paul) and Sarah (husband Mike) and her two grandsons, Jack and Tyler who affectionately referred to him as Grandpa Henry, much to his total delight! Other members of his family include his sister Dr. Terry Krupa, her husband  Martin Lanthier, nephew Spencer, niece Asha and cousin Joe.

Henry pursued a legal career and held various positions in government and the corporate world. He studied at Cambridge University, Dundee University and held teaching posts at Western University in London, Ontario as well as at the University of Phoenix in Arizona. At one point he was Chief Legal Officer for Ontario Ministry of the Environment and headed a team of lawyers in the investigation of the  Walkerton water crisis of 2000. Additionally, he was a member of Mensa and author of several books on environmental studies.

Henry had some great long time friends that he met with regularly, Don, Jaime, Murray, Bill, Murs, Mauro, Doug - they would meet over a glass of wine and solve the world's problems.  He also had friends from his University of Ottawa law school days and would often go to Ottawa to see Cecil, Rick and Syd and celebrate at their fellowship dinners. Encapsulating who he was is to say he was honest, loyal and generous to a fault with a love of sailing, having participated in 1976 on the Olympics sailing team. He kept his sailboat in Bronte harbour where he would enjoy entertaining his friends over a glass of wine.

His biggest joy though were his three Old English sheepdogs, Rhli, Sohni and Rawnie, his constant companions who he referred to as his "girls" and they travelled everywhere with him. His furry friends had pride of place walking in the Santa Claus parade in Oakville every year and we would like to picture him walking with them now, together again.

A visitation will be held in honour of Henry on Saturday, November 29 from 3-5 pm at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home at 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, ON L6K 1E1.
