Reunited at last with his true love, Helen (2011).
His life was grounded in faith and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Henri approached the world with child-like curiosity, voraciously reading the news and following history. For most of his 60 years of employment, he relished his work as a landscape-gardener.
Henri instilled in his children the qualities of working hard, accepting responsibility and finding satisfaction in simple living.
Strong yet gentle Father to Patricia and her husband Tom, Tony and his wife Lynda, Dominique, Vincent and his wife Hye Ran, Teresa and her husband Bob; dear Opa of Christopher and his wife Theressa, Shanna and her husband Jim, Benjamin and his wife Nicole, Sarah, Zachary and Paige; delighted Great-Grandfather of Trillian, Eisley, Julianna, Athen, Aria.
Henri was the third son of 16 children. Born in Holland, he emigrated with Helen to Canada in 1950. One brother Piet (Ans) came to Canada, and one sister, Margaret (Frank) moved to Australia. The other siblings remained in Holland.
Predeceased by siblings: Piet, Corrie, Lou, Trudy, Gerard H, Suzanna, Henny, Jack, Gerard M.L., Tony.
Remembered by siblings: John, Mieke, Ans, Margaret, Diny and their partners; in-laws and nieces and nephews of the Hendriks and Duyvestijn extended families.
Dad spent twenty years in long term care and the family acknowledges with deep gratitude the dedication of the many helpful staff members, with special thanks to the loyal staff at Oakville House, Wyndham Manor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016,
at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds St. Oakville.
Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Georgetown.
Those who wish, may make a memorial contribution to "Hamilton Out of the Cold" or a charity of choice.
