VERMEER: Hendrika 'Hennie' (nee Kleinveld)

October 25, 1927-November 5, 2019

Hennie passed away in the peace and contentment of her own home at the age of 92. She had just celebrated her 92 ^nd birthday with family and friends.

. Hennie was born in Hamersveld, Holland, and was the daughter of the late John and Petronella Kleinveld. Hennie and Henry immigrated to Canada in March of 1951 with their eldest daughter. They were very proud to raise their family of seven here in Canada. They moved to Oakville in May of 1956 where she lived for 63 years.

Beloved wife of the late Henry Vermeer to whom she was married for 65 years. Mother of the late Ellen Vermeer and dear mother of Teresa (Bill), John (Luz), Chuck, Douglas (Cathy), Dolores (David) and Henry. Oma to Jennifer (Joe), Lisa (Mike), Heather (Dan), Stefanie (Zachary), Mariska (Andrew), Jesse, Laura (Brian), Creighton (Samantha), Nathaniel, and Jaime. Great- Oma to Lukas, Avery, Nikolas, Emily, Jolene, Callie, Amy, Billie & Parker.

Predeceased by her siblings John Kleinveld, William Kleinveld, Peter Kleinveld, Margaret Gresel, Riek Hystek and Regina Weel. Survived by her siblings Trudy VanRyn, Jennie Jongkind, Christine Peters, and Audrey Lamrock.

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Hennie was an avid volunteer in Oakville for much of her life. In 2009, she was recognized as Senior Volunteer of the year in Oakville. She volunteered with Special Olympics Oakville for 35 years and ran the sewing room at Oakland Regional Center for 25 years. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for several years, school breakfast programs and the Oakville Center for the Performing Arts for many years.

Family will receive friends at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville on Friday November 8, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1150 Monks Passage, Oakville on Saturday November 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Hennie will be laid to rest at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery. Following the services, family and friends are invited to a reception at Kopriva-Taylor.
