IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helmut
Keil
September 10, 1933 – August 6, 2025
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Helmut Keil on August 6, 2025.
At the age of 88, surrounded by family and close friends, Helmut passed away peacefully in Oakville, Ontario.
Helmut is survived by his wife Lily; his brother Karl (Jutta); his son Alan (Anita); his daughter Monica (Ernest); and his four grandchildren: Michelle (Colton); Jeffrey (Amanda); Sarah and Julia.
He was born on September 10, 1936 in Berlin Germany during World War II and immigrated to Canada at the age of 20 with his best friend Wolfgang Ordung, also an Oakville resident. They remained good friends throughout their lives.
Helmut married the love of his life, Josephine Lily Keil on June 6, 1959. They were inseparable throughout the sixty six years that they lived together. Even during their later years they looked at each other with so much love… it was a beautiful thing to behold. They were devoted partners in love, life and business. Together they created Lily's Fashions (40 years in operation); raised their children; enjoyed their grandchildren, and travelled extensively.
Being a natural athlete, Helmut was an avid skier, golfer, and tennis player well into his eighties.
Helmut also served as president of the Ontario Racquets Club for over 35 years and was an active member of the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club for over 40 years.
He was a man who preferred action over words, and whose character was most visible in his accomplishments. Helmut was known for his hard work, discipline and unwavering determination.
A private family gathering to celebrate Helmut's life was held on a beautiful sunny afternoon in a lovely lakefront setting. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral.
Helmut Keil's presence will be missed and also remembered in the powerful legacy he leaves in his wake.
