Obituary

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Helena (Lynn) Boon, who left us peacefully on August 15, 2025, just ten days shy of her 99th birthday.

Lynn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dennis, and is lovingly remembered by her children Sharon (William Morgan), Kristina (Richard Teodorczyk), and Martin. She was the cherished grandmother of Ellen (Morgan), Anna (Cozza), Maria (Morgan), Zenon (Teodorczyk), and Evangeline (Teodorczyk), and the proud great-grandmother of Charlotte and McKenzie (Mery Morgan) and Primrose and Lily (Cozza).

Born August 25, 1926, in Edmonton, Middlesex, England, Lynn was the youngest of ten children. After the early loss of her mother, she was raised with the loving support of her father and older siblings.

During the Second World War, Lynn was evacuated from London to rural England and Wales. Though safe, she longed for home, and at 14 requested to return to London. With her schooling complete, she began working in a factory producing uniforms for soldiers, where she developed the sewing and tailoring skills she would use throughout her life.

She met Dennis while on holiday at the seaside, shortly after his discharge from the Royal Navy. They were married on July 2, 1949, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, resilience, and family. In 1957, Lynn and Dennis immigrated to Canada, seeking a fresh start and a brighter future.

Dennis's career with the Bank of Montreal brought their family to many communities across Ontario—including Pembroke, Cornwall, London, Toronto, and Markham—as well as Pointe-Claire, Quebec. In 1975, they made Oakville their permanent home, where Lynn created a warm, welcoming space filled with love, laughter, delicious meals, countless friendships, and cherished memories.

Lynn's creativity and talents enriched the lives of those around her. She loved reading, sewing, painting, and rug hooking, leaving behind many handmade treasures to be cherished as family heirlooms. She had a passion for music, singing, and dancing, and enjoyed lawn bowling and games of Pollywog. An avid gardener, she found joy in cultivating beauty wherever she lived.

Her early experiences shaped her into a kind, optimistic woman with a deep compassion for animals and a generous spirit. Lynn will be remembered most for her unwavering love for her family, her warmth, and her ability to make every place she lived feel like home. She was the true heart of her family and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Lynn's life will be held at 2:00 pm, October 19th at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Blvd, Oakville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph's Health Centre or Dorothy Ley Hospice.
