It is with love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Isabelle Upton.

Helen was part of a close and loving family. She is predeceased by her husband Tim, who passed in 2015, her parents Violet and Tom Bird, and her son-in-law Eric. She leaves behind children Julie, Anthony, and Heather (Steve), as well as grandchildren Jordana (Crosby), Jesse (Alexandra), Rachel (Jamie), Luke (Rachel), Sam, and Ella (Nick), all of whom loved her very much.

Helen was born on February 17th, 1936, in Edinburgh, Scotland. She came to Canada at the age of 20, landing in Vancouver in search of adventure. She was promptly swept off her feet by Tim, her loving husband of 56 years. Together, they built a family and traveled across Canada for Tim's work, living in Vancouver, Edmonton, and London before settling in Oakville.
Helen treasured special friendships from her childhood in Edinburgh, as well as the many friends she and Tim shared so many happy times with in Canada. She loved dinner parties, afternoon teas, hours sitting in a sunny garden reading, watching Coronation Street, and cheerfully tapping her foot to a good tune.

The family would like to express gratitude to her personal care provider Bernadette and the caring staff at Sheridan Villa for their dedicated care and attention during the last years of Helen's life.

Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville ON on Friday, January 26 at 10:00am with a funeral service in the Kopriva Taylor Chapel at 11:00am, there will be a small reception to follow services.

In lieu of flowers, Helen's family asks that you consider a donation to the Sheridan Villa Long Term Care Program.
