Helen Peto (nee Uszkay)

January 8, 1933 – January 7, 2026

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Peto on January 7, 2026, just one day short of her 93rd birthday. Helen passed away peacefully with family at her side.

Born and raised in Montreal, Helen dedicated her life to her family and community. While she worked as a teacher and librarian, she most greatly valued her time as a homemaker and mother. Helen had many interests—reading, gardening, and sewing—but her true passion was music. She shared her gift as a violinist performing with the Oakville Symphony Orchestra and was their music librarian for several years.

Helen will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and ability to bring order to everything under her care.

She was the beloved wife of Tibor (predeceased) for 60 years, a dear sister to Ernest, loving mother to James and Rob, and an affectionate grandmother and great-grandmother to many.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bennett Health Care Centre for their compassionate care during Helen's final days.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Helen's life at a memorial service on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, Oakville. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM.
