Obituary

Helen JOAN Grant, of Oakville, Ontario, died peacefully with family members present on March 14, 2025, at her residence in Kensington Retirement Home.

Joan was born on December 9, 1932, to Helen and Charles Frewin in Montreal, Quebec, and attended Trafalgar and King's Hall Compton School where she made many life long and cherished friends.

Joan is predeceased (2011) by her loving husband Geoffrey. They were married in 1956 and lived in Montreal West where they had three children.  In 1971 they moved to Oakville, Ontario, where they raised their family and eventually enjoyed a life of retirement together.

Volunteering was a large part of Joan's life and included roles at St. Jude's Anglican Church, Ian Anderson House and the May Court Club of Oakville where she was an original member of the Christmas Tree Decorating Group leading to many lasting friendships. Joan spent many hours playing bridge and sharing her knowledge of mahjong with new and old friends.

Joan is survived by her children and their partners: Timothy (Susan), Andrew (Suzanne) and Gillian (Jeff).  She was a proud grandmother of 8: Fraser Grant, Elizabeth Ulliac, Rebecca Urbano, Matthew Grant, Brayden Grant, Brian Horbal, Alex Horbal, Sarah Horbal, and great grandmother of 5. Joan's brother, Robert Frewin, passed days after her.

A Service of Celebration will be on Saturday, April 5 at 11 am at St Jude's Church in Oakville.
