It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Elizabeth Frances Cherrington nee Blair, at home, at the age of 99. Helen moved to Oakville from Brampton at the age of 12 with her parents John Blair and Ethel Wilkins. Oakville is where she met her husband Donald Cherrington and they married before his deployment in WW2. During the war she worked at her aunt's flower shop in New Toronto saving to build their lifelong home on his return.

Together Don and Helen built their home and cottage where they raised their children, Donna and Carolyn and supported Helen's parents. Their home was a gathering place for members of the newly full-time Oakville Fire Department and Helen would entertain sing-a-longs by playing piano. Up until her passing, Helen could be found working in her gardens surrounding her home to the surprise and admiration of family, friends and neighbors. Her home was her pride and joy, and at the cottage her favourite pastime was planting trees that inevitably Don would be asked to chop down in order to make room to plant something new

Helen was preceded in Death by her husband Donald Leonard Meyers Cherrington, her daughters Donna Williamson and Carolyn Cherrington.

She will be missed by her grandchildren, Donald and Andrea Williamson, her great-grandchildren Neil, Heather, Christopher, Stephanie, and her great-great grandchildren Lucas and Jessica.

Friends may call at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville on Saturday May 20, 2023 from 10 am until 11 am. Funeral Service in Chapel at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. Jude's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Oakville and Milton Humane Society would be appreciated.
