It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Harry Pittens who passed away on December 11, 2023 in his home in Oakville, Ontario at the age of 89.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Anna, his children, Kathy (John), Jack (Tracy), Ken (Anna) and four grandchildren Tonya, Janice, Monica, and Kristin. He was the loving brother of Adrian (Doreen) and brother-in-law to Elizabeth. He is predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Martin and John and brother-in-law to Menja.
Born in Veghel, Holland to Cornelus Pittens and Antonia van de Ven. Harry immigrated to Canada in 1953 landing in Halifax and eventually settling in Oakville and successfully built Pittens Carpentry. He met Anna on vacation in Holland and she soon joined Harry in Oakville. They were married a year later on July 31, 1960. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Harry will be remembered for always being quick to help anyone in need. No projects were too big to take on to help a friend or family member. All he asked is that there is a good pot of coffee. As work slowed down Tim Hortons became the place to be to enjoy a cup with friends. He loved a friendly conversation and a good laugh. He also volunteered at the Oakville Seniors Centre helping out any way he could.
Visitation will be held on Friday December 15 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario (one block East of Kerr Street). A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation .
