It is with profound sorrow that I announce the passing of Hamish Edwin Wells at the Credit Valley Hospital's Oncology Palliative Care Center on January 5th, 2015. He was 69. While the unrelenting nature of the cancer made the end inevitable, Hamish never lost his sense of humour remaining stubbornly optimistic throughout. Thankfully the end was remarkably pain free.
His immediate family, wife Tina Jagros, sister Anne Walker, niece Margaret Walker, nephew William Walker, nieces and spouses Mary Wells and Bill Owen, Betsy and Greg Cosper and Jennifer Wells and Michael Baines, nephew Christian Wells, his mother in law Dana Jagros, brother and sister in law Philip May and Lynda Jagros May and nieces Dana and Philip Jr. May, grand nieces and nephews Evie, Aaron, Patricia, Joseph, Michelle, Caitlin, Luke, Kate, Gilliam and Archie all mourn the loss of his presence.
Hamish's extended family included many, many more then those related to him by blood or marriage. His uncanny ability to connect with people created many brothers and sisters who feel his loss as deeply as his immediate family. Hamish had a smart, curious mind that was partnered with a deep and generous heart. His love of learning, of music, of having a good time, of solving problems of every nature made him a part of everyone's family.
He had recently resumed one of his many passions, sailing which brought him much joy. His ending was a quiet slipping away from the dock, with a fair wind in his sails pushing him out on his next solo adventure.
In accordance with Hamish's wishes there will be no religious ceremony or Funeral. He will be cremated and a memorial celebrating his life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
Anyone wishing to send flowers or other tokens of respect is directed to make contributions to the Credit Valley Hospital's Oncology Center where the fine Doctors and Nurses worked tirelessly to ensure the quality of his life until the end.
