IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Grace Catharine
Dennis (Née Ormesher)
July 20, 1929 – May 4, 2023
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Amazing Grace. Grace Catharine Dennis (née Ormesher) passed peacefully on Thursday, May 4 th , 2023 with family by her side.
Grace was 93 years old and is predeceased by her husband Bill (2022) and their son Mark (2005). Grace and Bill were married for almost 74 years and together they were immensely proud of the strong and loving family they built. Grace was the proud and devoted mother of Patricia, Paul (Lynn), Marie, Michael (Julie), Gerry (Amelia), Cathie, Peter (Sarah), Mark (deceased 2005, Filomena) and Terry (Shelley). Grace was also a loving Nana to her 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren: Angie (Rob) and children Sam, Emily and Ben, Michael (Marie), children Will and Graham, Matthew (Carrie), children Emma and Henry, Chris (Melissa), children Luke and Ryan, Stephen (Sarah), children Liv, Harry, and Bennett, Sean, children Charlie and Teddy, and Kelly Millar, Jennifer, Adam (Caitlin), children Clara, Will and Ellie, Andrew, Sarah (Brent), children AJ and Sophie, Robin (Sourena), children Azar and Zal, Scott, Beth, Brad, Mitch, Zack, Kate, Meg and Justin. Grace and Bill were very proud of their siblings, nieces and nephews and various friends of the family. They both had remarkable memories when it came to extended friends and family and made all feel welcome and comfortable.
As a proud graduate of Loretto Abbey, Grace made many special lifelong friends including Joan Laweless. She also enjoyed a close relationship with her sister-in-law Dorothy Ormesher spanning over 70 years. Raising 9 active children caused Grace to be creative in her daily life, acting as a dedicated self-taught seamstress, purveyor of first aid, pianist, painter, knitter and avid gardener. Grace will be remembered for her quick smile, cheeky sense of humour, devotion to her family, and her skills in the kitchen (as evidenced by the padlock on her freezer to keep her children out, later removed to enable the midnight visits to the freezer for cookies that none of her grandchildren will admit to). Grace will be forever missed and each of us will continue to feel her guiding hand on our shoulders.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the care she received from Dr. B. Clive, Dr. D. Palmer, and her caregivers at Amica Erin Mills.
