In his 71st year entered into everlasting peace on January 20th, 2009 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Beloved husband of Audrey for 49 years. Devoted father of Paul and Tracy, predeceased by daughter Dawn and his adored greyhound Dusty (his shadow). Gordon was also predeceased by his parents, Hugh & Violet, brothers Joseph & Edward, and his in-laws, John & Jenny Hoggins. He is survived by his sisters, Violet & Margaret, and brother, Tom, all of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Gordon was the treasured grandfather ("Ganga") of Tristan, Andrew, Garrett, Carling, Jennifer, Steele and Amanda. He was the special baby sitter of all of the grandchildren since their births and had a special bond with each of them. He loved to play and watch many sports: golf, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, football, competitive swimming and figure skating. He actively participated in these sports in various roles, both as coach, team manager, and convener, to support his children's sports activities and later as a special spectator of his grandchildren's competitive figure skating, soccer and hockey activities in Florida and Oakville. Gord retired from Ford Motor Co. after 30 years and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Oakville. He was a quiet gentleman with a great sense of humor; loved and respected by all who knew him. He enjoyed music and dancing with the love of his life, his wife, Audrey. Visitation at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West Oakville (905-844-2600) from 4-7pm Thursday. Funeral service in the chapel 1pm Friday. Interment Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery, Oakville.
