(Longtime employee of Consumers Gas/Enbridge Gas)
Unexpectedly on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his home in Oakville, Gord in his 71st year. Soul mate of Valerie for 53 wonderful years and her beloved husband for 46 years. Loving and devoted father of Cheryl Evans (Bruce), Helen, and John (Vicki). Adoring "Poppa" to Colin, Keely, Patrick and Samuel. Dear brother-in-law to Janis and Dennis McAughey and special uncle to their children Heather and Shannon and their families. Gord will be missed and lovingly remembered by his many other cherished nieces and nephews and his sisters-in-law Eileen and Patricia. Gord was a true gentleman who never hesitated to help friends, neighbours and strangers alike. He unselfishly gave of his time and expertise whenever needed. He loved his summers at the cottage on Lake Huron and his winters in Port Charlotte, Florida. Gord possessed a dry, quick-witted sense of humor that endeared him to everyone who knew him. Gord took pride in his many accomplishments and was a perfectionist in all that he did. He was a "backyard mechanic" and avid car enthusiast (Fords only please!), He was especially interested in classic cars and still owned his original 1955 Thunderbird. His greatest pleasure was derived from his family who loved him dearly and will miss him terribly. A service to celebrate Gord's life will be held on Monday, March 9th, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W, Oakville (one block east of Kerr 905-844-2600). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated by the family.
