An avid golfer for over 40 years, Gordon passed away peacefully after a
sudden illness on 31st December 2014 with his loving wife of 55 years, Pam, by
his side.

Survived by his children Tim, Andy (Carolyn), Dave (Millie) and by Alexi Helligar.
Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Zena. He will be missed by most of
his siblings and by many wonderful Welsh relatives.

Born in London England, where he was educated at St. Marylebone Grammar
School, he became a Chartered Accountant at age 23. Gordon emigrated to Canada
in 1967 with his young family where they initially settled in Montreal and
subsequently moved to Clarkson followed by long term Oakville residency.

Gordon enjoyed many interests including photogrpahy, travel, crosswords, puzzles,
watching soccer, learning and, being with family. He was passionate about
his career in finance which spanned almost 50 years and was elected a Life
Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. He generously
shared his finance experience and knowledge to help others.

After retirement at age 70, Gordon returned to school and learned to speak
Spanish, which he used during numerous trips to Spain with Pam. He also
developed a newfound skill in tapas preparation.

Gordon moved with Pam to Ennisclare two years ago and he embraced the
condo community enjoying the company of his new neighbours, playing snooker
and card games and participating in many Tuesday coffee hours and Friday
happy hours. He volunteered as a Board member as Treasurer and most recently
as President and will be missed by the many new friends he had in the
community.

A Memorial service to celebrate his life followed by a reception will be
held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn Street, Oakville commencing at
11am on Friday 9th January 2015. Gordon supported many charities and he
would no doubt appreciate a contribution in lieu of flowers to the Canadian
Central American Relief Effort www.canadiancamre.org an Oakville based NGO
which Gordon supported and which focuses on child education, dental care,
medical aid and economic development.
