Obituary

(Veteran WWII, RCASC Major Retired)
Passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, in his 90th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Joy (2008). Dear father of Julie Hunter (Jim) of Cornwall, Susan Hogarth (David Ross) of Toronto, Deborah McDermott of Oakville, and Brian (Maryanne) of Kansas City, U.S.A. Loved grandfather of Sarah (Steve Pond), Jonathan (Jenn) and Neil (Chrissy) Hunter, Tamsyn (Dan Hawthorne) and Brittany Ross (Mike Bradley), Tyler and Brendan McDermott, Charlie and Anna Hogarth. Great-grandfather of Dylan and Keely Hunter and Foster Bradley. Survived by one brother Bob (Marion) of Windsor. Gordon was on the first ship of Canadian soldiers to arrive in England in WWII. He and his war bride married in 1943. He continued in the Army after the war, with postings to Ottawa, Petawawa, London, Kingston and Germany. He retired in 1968 and moved the family from Ottawa to Oakville, where he had co-founded Entarea Investments, and later worked as a stockbroker with Richardson Greenshields. An active Rotarian for over 15 years, he had a passion for politics and investing, and loved to discuss the state of the world. Private cremation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Hornby. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Hornby.
