Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Giuseppina (Josephine) (nee Pastore) Visentin on December 9 th , 2022, with her nieces Grace and Diana Pastore by her side.

Wife to Antonio Visentin, (predeceased), and step-mother of Oscar (Ivana), Gisella (predeceased) Tony Martini. Grandmother to Jennifer, Mathew, Daniel and Amanda, and Great Grandmother to Gabriel, Michael and Lucas.

Predeceased by her parents Marino and Grazia Pastore, brothers Michael (Pina) Pastore, Pietro (Melina) Pastore, sisters Carmela (Ricardo) Carbone, Maria (Pasquale) DeBellis, Mina (Vincenzo) Mazzilli, Nilla Palumbo, Immacolata Ancona. Survived by her brother-in-law Frank Palumbo, and Frank Ancona.

She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Born in Martina Franca, Italy, immigrated to Canada where she met the love of her life, Antonio.  Although, he was taken away from her too soon, Josephine never stopped loving and talking about her Tony.

Josephine was a survivor on so many levels, she was a determined, hard working, very independent woman her whole life. A three-time breast cancer survivor.  Upon retirement she got involved and gave back to the community – volunteered with the VON, and got involved with the Friendship Club, through her local church.  In her spare time she enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, music, and even took ceramics, and Square Dancing lessons.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, to the Transition Centre, 3 rd Floor, Unit 1, for their care, while she transitioned to eternal peace.  Also, a gracious thank you to Queens Retirement in Oakville, where Josephine was treated with the most special care for this past year.

Visitation will take place at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home on Wednesday December 14, 2022 from 10:00am – 12:00 pm., followed by a Catholic Ceremony at 12pm.   Entombment to take place 10:30am Thursday December 15 th at Glen Oaks Cemetery, Oakville.

Donations can be made to the Cancer Society Canada or Alzheimer Society of Canada.

The family request that visitors wear masks.
