Degenhardt, Gerard (Gerry)

Suddenly, on August 21, 2011 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Henny for 58 years and loving father of Gerald (Barbara), Carolyn (Wayne), Andre (Sue) and John (Lesley). Proud grandfather of Hannah, Kiera, Carys, Eden, Rachel, Brynne and Tessa. Born in The Hague, Holland, he served with the Royal Dutch Air Force in Indonesia and immigrated to Canada in 1953. His career included accounting, sales and personnel in Canada and the U.S.A. and he eventually retired in Oakville. We will all miss his kindness, generosity, strength, wise advice, warm smile and sense of humour. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville on Monday from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Walton Memorial United Church, 2489 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville. The family would like to thank the staff at OTMH and Hamilton General Hospital for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
