Gerald (Gerry) Edward Casey
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, Feb. 19. Gerry was the son of Charles and Lavina (Graham) Casey and grew up in Toronto and London, Ont. He graduated from London Western Collegiate, and Western University, where he met his beloved wife Denise (Denny) Casey, nee Conklin. They were married for 60 years until Denny's passing, raising six children. He had happy memories of his vacations with Denny and family and friends in Southampton and Las Vegas. Gerry enjoyed a long career at Canadian National Railway, retiring as general manager, signals and communications, and appreciated the many friends he made over the years. A gifted storyteller with a keen sense of humour, Gerry entertained his friends and family, excelled in the Port Credit Toastmasters group and emceed at many celebrations. He will be dearly missed by his children Sheila Casey, Maureen Casey, Colleen Mellor, Judy Casey, John (Suzanne) Casey, of San Jose, Calif., and Sue Casey (the late Mark Pogue), of Beaconsfield, QC, and his nine cherished grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by dear sister Bernice Casey. Special thanks to the caring staff at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and the nurses at the Acclaim Health Oakville Nursing Care Centre for their kindness. Family and friends may visit at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville, on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca St., Oakville on Friday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
