Obituary

Kind, inclusive, witty, brilliant, selfless and unassuming, George William Henry Slasor was born and raised in Ottawa.  Following an undergraduate degree from Carleton University, he did his graduate work at the University of Chicago and the London School of Economics where, at the age of 24, he was invited to join the faculty.  While in London he met his beloved, late wife Colleen (nee Imbusch).  Together, they returned to Canada and George taught at Queen's University for a year before moving the family to the Toronto area where Professor Slasor joined the faculty of Economics at the University of Toronto and taught for more than 40 years.

George enjoyed good company and socialized with the many friends he met during his long walks with his beloved dogs Polly and Rafa.  He was a lover of all genres of music and a talented violinist.

George died peacefully with his loving family at his side.  Predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Slasor, he will be dearly missed by his children Christy (Doug Mair), Jeremy (Janet), Peter, Matthew and Sarah Bray (Mark) as well as his adored grandchildren Jeffrey, Gregory, Sarah, Tessa and Sophie.

The family is profoundly thankful to George's faithful caregiver and friend Kees Baggerman, his devoted PSWs from OSCR, Dr. Robert Gabriel and the staff of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Cremation has taken place through Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home in Oakville.  A private family funeral will be held and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.
