Obituary

George Theodore Hutter
May 21, 1939 – December 28, 2025

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, George peacefully left this world at the age of 86, surrounded by love, with his beloved wife, Marijane—his soulmate and best friend—holding his hand, and his children by his side. George lived a life filled with love, laughter, and sunshine. His big, welcoming smile reflected his generous heart, and he shared that warmth freely with everyone he met.

George was a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished grandfather, and a loyal friend. He had a special way of making people feel special, whether through his kindness, his hospitality, or simply by being present. His backyard pool was his happy place, and nothing brought him more joy than gathering family and friends there to relax, laugh, and enjoy the sunshine together.

George worked hard and built a successful 37-year career at Bell Canada, where he also formed lifelong friendships. Outside of work, his heart was always with his family and community. He coached hockey and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their sports and activities, proudly serving as their biggest fan.

His greatest joy was his family: his four children—Margaret Haines (Mike), Michael Hutter (Brenda), Stephen Hutter (Tamara), and John Hutter (Colleen)—and his nine treasured grandchildren: Joel (Geethu), Nicole (Tyler), Megan, Emily, Justin, Colton, Brock, Jordyn, and Taylor. They were the center of his world and the source of his greatest happiness.

George and Marijane shared a beautiful life together, filled with travel, sunny beach days in Florida, and countless moments surrounded by those they loved. George is now reunited in heaven with his loving parents Ana and George, and dear sisters Mildred O'Brien and Audrey Dodds, while leaving behind a legacy rich in love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

George spent his final two years at Creekway Village LTC, where he was surrounded by compassionate and dedicated staff—too many to name. The family is deeply grateful for the care, kindness, and respect he received.  In lieu of flowers we ask that donations are made to the Willow Foundation a nonprofit organization that supports Creekway Village: www.willowfoundation.ca.

A Mass will be held on Friday, January 9, 2025, 10:30 am, at St. Dominic's Church, 2415 Rebecca St., Oakville. A reception will follow at The Bronte Boathouse, 2340 Ontario St., Oakville.

George's life was a beautiful celebration of family, friendship, and joy. That is how he will always be remembered.
